Waste and Recycling Information

Frequently Asked Questions

What holidays are recognized by the trash company and will effect the trash pick?
            New Years Day
            Memorial Day
            Independence Day
            Labor Day
            Thanksgiving Day
            Christmas
If the holiday falls on or before the regular pick up day (Wednesday), it will delay the trash/recycle pick up one day.

How often do they pick up recycling?
Recycling is picked up bi-weekly week.

MMWA encourages residents to use a 45-gallon or smaller can for their recyclables, as cans help better contain contents and keep them dry. Any rigid plastic can with handles can be transformed into a recycling container by adding a “Recyclables Only” sticker, available through MMWA or by writing "Recyclables Only" on the can.

Can large items be set out for pick up?
Yes. You are allowed two (2) bulky items, any item over 50 lbs., each week. These items should be tagged with an orange tag and picked up by a different truck at a later time. Please call the office if it has not been tagged or picked up after 10 - 14 days.

How long do they pick up yard waste?
Yard waste may be taking to the township compost site located in the 15000 block of Gratiot Road behind the cemetery.  The compost site typically closes December 1st and reopens March 31st.
